Pork

The Pigness of Pigs: Raised to Root & Roam

Our pork is heritage Duroc/Hereford cross, raised to live as pigs should — rooting, roaming, and foraging on diverse ground. As young piglets, they learn to respect single hot-wire fencing, which allows us to move them frequently to fresh ground. They especially love rooting around cattail patches! Their diet is supplemented with a locally milled, non-GMO grain blend.

Raising pigs on pasture instead of confinement leads to healthier animals and superior pork. Our hogs enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and a natural, varied diet, which enhances both their well-being and the quality of their meat. Unlike conventional pork — often raised in overcrowded, indoor facilities and fed a grain-heavy diet — pasture-raised pork is higher in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and antioxidants. It also develops richer marbling and deeper flavor, resulting in meat that is tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful.

By rotating our pigs across the land, they help break up compacted soil, fertilize naturally, and reduce pest pressure — contributing to the regeneration of our farm's ecosystem. The result? Healthier land, happier animals, and pork that's better for both you and the environment.
